US Navy Tests and Certifies Advanced Weapons Elevators on Aircraft Carrier Gerald R. Ford

The US Navy has tested and certified advanced Weapons Elevators on Gerald R. Ford, the aircraft carrier. The Weapons Elevators have superlative capabilities such as transporting massive munitions from the depths of the ship up to the hanger bay and to the flight deck. AWE is one of the 23 brand-new technologies developed for the Ford-class carriers. The AWEs are designed integrating several advanced technologies such as electromagnetic motors, hydraulic systems and others.

The advanced technology enables sailors transport of massive munitions from weapons magazines to the flight deck quickly and safely. The team developing the AWE worked tirelessly both in port as well as operating at the sea. Hundreds of craftsmen, technicians and engineers worked effortlessly to complete the work with successful operation and all the systems in line.

The materials needed to complete the elevators and engineering expertise has been extensively worked on by the development team. Multiple vendors have collaborated during the development to ensure the material needed for the development is provided and to support shipboard production efforts.

French Armaments Procurements Agency (DGA) members examined the advanced elevators weapons and all the new systems integrated into it. The Gerald R. Ford is on track to undergo sea trials and other tasks. The Weapons Elevators have superlative capabilities such as transporting massive munitions from the depths of the ship up to the hanger bay and to the flight deck.
